Removals
We want to work with you to achieve your goals for your trees and your property. Sometimes, that means a tree needs to be removed. Steadfast Tree Care is committed to working safely and protecting your property from the first cut to the final cleanup.
Pruning
Trees need regular maintenance in order to grow to their fullest potential. We provide high-quality tree care designed to enhance your property and support your long-term goals for your trees.
When evaluating how and when to prune a tree, there are a few common things we look for.
First, we look for dead branches. Large dead branches should be removed from the crown of a tree because they carry a higher risk of falling unexpectedly. If left in the tree, they can also contribute to pest and disease pressure. Dead limbs can be part of a natural cycle in a tree’s life. Sometimes trees shed unnecessary branches as they grow, while other times dead portions of a tree can be a sign of a larger issue. If the tips or ends of many branches are dying, this could be a sign that the tree is in decline.
Second, we look at large, overextended leads. These portions of a tree’s crown can be at higher risk of failure. Branches, leaves, and wood can be extremely heavy, and in some cases, end weight needs to be removed from these limbs to reduce the likelihood of failure.
We also look at unions in the tree that are structurally compromised. Tight branch unions or co-dominant stems often carry a higher risk of failure. These can often be managed through pruning by reducing the overall leverage and force placed on those unions.
Cabling and bracing
Steel hardware can be installed in the canopy of a tree to help protect it from large crown failures. Extra-High-Strength steel cable can be properly mounted high in the canopy with steel bolts to help support structurally compromised unions.
Installing cables can be a strong option when large leads are near structures, high-use areas, or other areas of concern. However, no amount of risk mitigation can completely remove the possibility of tree failure.
In some cases, brace rods may also be installed to help support a union that is splitting or at high risk of splitting. Bolts drilled through these compromised areas can help hold and support the union.
Inspections
Cavities, dieback, fungal growth, decay, hollow areas, cracks, and lean are all factors that should be considered when evaluating the structural integrity and health of a tree. Trees naturally carry some level of risk, but many of these red flags can be assessed and properly managed.
We provide tree inspections and give you the information you need to make the best decision possible for your trees and your property.
